2. Complete your site details

On Letterpad, you get your own dedicated space - a personalized website powered by a subdomain. Just like your author profile, optimizing your website's site name, tagline, and search description is important for attracting visitors and establishing your brand identity. This information serves as a first impression in search engine results, so filling them strategically is essential.

1. Site Name:

Your site name should be memorable, relevant to your content, and ideally, concise. It's the first thing users encounter in search results and should accurately reflect your offerings. For instance, if you offer web design services, consider a name like "Creative Spark Design" or "Simplified Web Solutions." If you can't think of a name, its ok - just write your name.

2. Site Tagline:

Your tagline is a brief statement summarizing your website's purpose and core value proposition. It should be catchy, informative, and differentiate you from competitors. For example, a travel blogger might use the tagline "Exploring the world, one adventure at a time" or a bakery might use "Freshly baked happiness, delivered to your doorstep."

3. Search Description:

The search description is a snippet displayed under your website's name in google search results. It's important to concisely explain what your write about and target relevant keywords users might search for.

4. Connect with Google Search Console:

For optimal search engine visibility, verify your website with Google Search Console.

Here are the steps to submit your blog to Google's Search Console:

  1. Log in with your Google account on Google's Search Console.
  2. Click on Add Property

  3. Enter the name of the domain under the URL prefix property type section and click on Continue.
  4. Expand the HTML tag tab.
  5. Copy the HTML tag.
  6. Click here to go to Settings → Integrations in admin dashboard.
  7. Paste the HTML Tag inside the Add Scripts or Meta Tags field.
  8. Go back to Google Search Console and click on the Verify button. If you have followed the above steps correctly, Google should be able to find the meta tag and verify the domain.
  9. Now comes the part where we tell Google about the links present on your blog. Go to the Sitemap section present on the sidebar on Google Search Console.
  10. Every blog on Letterpad has a sitemap, and it's available at /sitemap.xml. For example ajaxtown.letterpad.app/sitemap.xml. On the Google Search Console, enter sitemap.xml in the input field. Don't prepend the slash /. Google has already added that for you.

That's it! Google is now aware of your blog. It'll crawl your sitemap periodically and index your blog posts, even the future ones automatically.
